I chose to photograph at the church because it is the church that I have gone too from a very young age. My parents as well as my grandparents got married in that church. Me and my siblings were also baptized in that same church. The feelings that I am trying to convey are a sense of calmness and safety in a person. It first took me a minute to get the right angle of the church but after I figured that out I was able to photograph the front side of the church.
I decided to photograph this specific part of the Law Quad because I liked the color of the building as well as the archway. I enjoyed photographing it as it evoked a sense of calmness in me. The feelings that I am trying to evoke in the viewer is a sense of calmness. I am also trying to inspire people to do things and to try and make a difference. A struggle that I encountered while trying to photograph at this location was the lighting because that day it was overcast and gray.
I decided to photograph another side of the church, the side pillar. I chose to photograph this because that is the bell tower of the church. I remember when I was younger I would always listen for the bells in the bell tower to ring. These photographs evoke a sense of calmness and a homey feeling. I have many good memories from the church from when I was younger. When people view these pictures I want them to feel calm and serene and a sense of safety.
I chose to photograph this particular building of the Law Quad at UofM because I liked how tall and strong the building looked. I enjoyed photographing it and imagining what was going on inside. I also liked the color as well as the tall archway in the middle with a walkway through it. I struggled to get the full building as it was quite taller then me. After I backed up some I was able to get the effect of the full building. The feelings that I am trying to convey are of calmness but also of excitement.
I chose to photograph this building because I liked how regal and tall it looked. It was on the outside of the Law Quad and appears to be facing outward onto the street. I also liked the windows that went down into the ground because you could see people inside working. I also liked the ivy that was growing up the side of building. I am trying to evoke a sense of work and a sense of hard work and what a person can get out of that hard work.
